Wheel width

The width of a car's wheels (flange shape J) is an important point that indicates the "thickness" of the wheel. To understand this, first imagine the part of the wheel called the "rim". The rim of a wheel is the part where the tire is attached, and the width of the wheel is measured from the outer edge to the outer edge of this rim.

A flange is a "fold" or "protruding part" on the edge of the rim. A J-shaped flange means that the outer edge of the rim is shaped like a "J". This "J" shape firmly supports the tire and increases stability when mounted.

Wheel width sizes are expressed as "7J" or "8J", where the number indicates the width of the wheel (in inches). For example, 7J means that the rim width is 7 inches.

To summarise:

Wheel width is the distance from one end of the rim to the other.

Flange shape J is the shape of the edge of the rim, and is designed to ensure stable attachment of the tire.

The wider the tire, the better the grip and stability it provides.

Wheel width affects the vehicle's driving performance and appearance, so it is important to choose the right width for your vehicle.
